Delete your account and data
If you take part in a study through the icarenet app, you can ask at any time for your account and every piece of study data collected about you to be deleted. You do not need the app installed to make the request.
Two ways to request deletion
Either route reaches the team running your study. Choose whichever works for you.
In the icarenet app
Open the Account screen and tap “Request deletion”. Your request goes straight to your study team — and you are immediately signed out on all of your devices.
With this form
If you have uninstalled the app, lost your device, or can no longer sign in, send your request with the form on this page. It goes to the team running your study — nothing is deleted automatically, and the team will verify your identity before acting.
What gets deleted
When your request is completed, the following is permanently removed:
- All collected study data held in object storage — your activity responses (including any voice recordings) and your passive sensor data.
- The upload manifests that reference that data.
- Your consent records.
- All of your devices are revoked, and any unused enrolment codes issued for you are cancelled.
What is retained, and why
We keep a single audit record of the deletion request itself — who requested it, when, and who actioned it. It contains no study data; it exists solely as proof that your request was honoured.
Where a study's protocol or applicable clinical-research regulations require it, some already-analysed data may be retained; your study team can tell you whether this applies to your study.
Timeframe
We acknowledge deletion requests and complete them within 30 days, in line with Article 12(3) of the GDPR.
Deletion means leaving the study
Requesting deletion also withdraws you from the study: you will stop receiving activities and no further data will be collected from your devices.
Linked accounts are affected as well. If you are a participant, your request also signs out your legal guardians; if you are a legal guardian, your request signs out the participants linked to you.
